God You don’t need me
But somehow You want me
Oh how You love me
Somehow that frees me
To open my hands up
And give You control
I give You control

Nothing is more freeing than declaring that God is in control, and nothing is sweeter than knowing that God is in pursuit of us. This is the message of Tenth Avenue North’s Control from their album Followers.

The song starts off slow but gradually increases in power as its lyrics increase with emotion. The beauty of the song is that it begins as an act of surrender, a realization that we fall short. Then it turns into a declaration of freedom, of rest in God, and a declaration that we acknowledge God by our side thus we leave the reins in His hands. We leave Him in control.

The song is an exhale, a metaphor of release from weariness.
