The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
1 Corinthians 2:14 – 16

Oftentimes, we fall into temptations, run into wrong decisions and get into trouble whenever we depend on our own wisdom, effort or solution to a problem.  Paul was making a clear distinction in these words between earthly wisdom and the mind of Christ through the Holy Spirit. Indeed, who can know spiritual things if a person will not depend on the Spirit? For the things of flesh are of flesh, and of the Spirit are of the Spirit. How then do we define the distinction of having the mind of Christ?

We should have the mind of Christ in our Vision. A clear goal and direction is a must for every believer who had placed their faith in Jesus Christ. The spiritual life is a journey and so we must see our goal – that is to be more like Christ and to bear fruit in Christ. Having the mind of Christ in our vision gives us a sense of purpose in our lives that we are not just laboring for nothing but we know we are glorifying God in our lives.

We should also have the mind of Christ in our Views. We may have a lot of different opinions about a certain matter but if we have the Holy Spirit, we will always refer to ‘what the Word of God says.’  Our view of sin; our view of the holiness of God; our view of purity; our view of good stewardship and many other issues should always be constant and unchanging. Why? Because we have the same Holy Spirit.  The Word of God determines our views and the Holy Spirit leads us to the right responses.

Lastly, we should have the mind of Christ in our Values. Are we valuing the things of God or the things of the flesh? God values holiness, so therefore we shouldn’t desire to fall into temptation. We value prayer in such a way we do it regularly even if we are mocked by those who are perishing. We value salvation that’s why we boldly share our faith to others. Our values determines our thoughts, actions, and our words.

Having the mind of Christ is simple thinking like Christ. What God’s goal and vision, we do envision. What God’s view about a certain matter, we view it the way He does. What God values, we value it.

Do you have the mind of Christ in your Vision? Views? Or Values?

Were there times when God told you something  but you could not obey because you disagree with God’s word? Are there views about purity, holiness, or sin that you keep on compromising with? Pray and ask God that He will help you receive the Mind of Christ.
