Without women, the world would just be the same. God made women in his image for special reasons, and the Bible reminds us of that fact with stories about Mary, Ruth, Deborah, Sarah, and more. These faithful women serve as inspiration for women today. Read the following Bible verses about being a woman of God if you need to remember the special role that God has given to you.
You will be amazed when you realize just how much God has in store for you as a woman — especially when you have the power of faithfulness with you.
Proverbs 11:16 says, “A kindhearted woman gains honor, but ruthless men gain only wealth.”
In this verse, Solomon points out that a woman who is kind and exhibits grace gains respect from others. Being kind will make people look up to you. They will honor your graciousness and view you as an example of virtue. Keep in mind that honor from being kind is always better than wealth that is gained by those who are ruthless.
This verse was perfectly illustrated in 1 Samuel 25. Nabal is described as a very wealthy man who was harsh and married to a kind woman named Abigail. During the time that David and his men needed food in the wilderness, David sent men to request food from Nabal. Although Nabal was rich, he refused to give food and sent insults to David. David prepared 400 men to attack Nabal’s home.
When Abigail learned about this, she acted quickly and sent abundant provisions to David. Although Nabal was not aware of what his wife did, her prudent action saved the entire family and servants. After 10 days, the Lord struck Nabal and he died while Abigail became David’s wife.
The story of Abigail and Nabal clearly portrays the lesson from Proverbs 11:16. Kind women receive the honor, while violent men only gain riches, which is also left in the world after death. Always remember to be kind and gracious.
According to Proverbs 31:30, “Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”
Proverbs is one of the most quoted books in the Bible as it contains concise instructions on how to act justly and live a life pleasing to God.
The last section of Proverbs contains King Lemuel’s description of noblewomen. The king gave advice to his sons that a wife of noble character is of greater value than rubies. He continues to describe the good deeds a noblewoman does and how she watches over her household. He continues to talk about the loveliness of a woman who fears the Lord.
The truth is, we live in an era where the standard of beauty is so high. As a result, other women are too focused or pressured to live up to society’s definition of beauty, often leading to vanity. Proverbs 31:30 celebrates faithful women of God who are worthy of praise. Remember that no matter what you look like, your commitment and fear for the Lord are what truly matter.
Proverbs 31:20-21 states, “She opens her hand to the poor and reaches out her hands to the needy. She is not afraid of snow for her household, for all her household are clothed in scarlet.”
This Bible verse is a part of King Lemuel’s description of a noblewoman. The act of giving in the description does not refer to simple acts of charity. With words like “reaches out her hands”, it talks about how a virtuous woman will go out of her way to meet the needy. She will help the poor even if it requires strenuous effort to do so. Helping those in need is undoubtedly a characteristic of a woman of God.
Hebrews 13:16 reminds “… do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased”. A woman of God will help those in need extensively without a hint of worry for their own needs.
According to Proverbs 31:25, “She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.
In this Bible verse, the noblewoman understands the importance of living with virtue and courage and “wears” these characteristics when interacting with other people. Women of God carry themselves with strength and dignity, making these their most beautiful garments.
Proverbs 31:26 states, “She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue”.
Our tongues and words are very powerful and can make or break others. Have you thought about being careful whenever you speak? Women of God think before they speak. When they do speak, they do so with kindness always.
1 Peter 3:3-4
1 Peter 3:3-4 commands, “Your beauty should not come from outward adornments, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.”
It’s important to note that this Bible verse does not imply that wearing jewelry or fine clothes should be banned. Rather, it is a reminder that superficial items are not what defines true beauty. As a woman of God, focusing on your inner values is the beauty that won’t fade and is of utmost value to God. Your inner self should be characterized by a gentle and quiet spirit.
In this article are just some of the Bible verses about being a woman of God. May you live your life as one that is pleasing to God. There is a great reward waiting for you as a woman of God.
