Have you ever wondered what it takes to be a godly woman? Finding the definition of a godly woman can be difficult because it encompasses so much. Fortunately, the Bible equips us with the truth and guidance we need. These Bible verses about being a woman of God are here to help you out!
Without women in our lives, nothing would be the same. Jesus Christ was brought into the world by a woman named Mary and God even put a woman on Earth in the beginning to accompany man. Several Bible verses also feature powerful women such as Rebecca, Ruth, Rachel, and more. These faith-filled women in the past have inspired women all over the world today.
When you read the Bible, it is evident how God feels about women. He holds women in high esteem, protecting and empowering them. In the beginning, God made women in His image and created them to be respected and cherished.
Below are 8 Bible verses about being a woman of God to remind yourself of just how much a woman can accomplish — especially when she places her faith in the Lord.
“Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”
The sad truth is, the world is so obsessed with its own standard of beauty. With images of “ideal beauty” bombarding everyone almost daily making women easily feel insecure or inadequate.
However, beauty is also skin-deep. While someone might be beautiful on the outside, their character — what’s inside — may not be. No matter what you look like, remember that a woman’s fear of the Lord is what truly matters in life.
“She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy. When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet.”
A virtuous woman of God will happily follow God’s call. She will go out of her way to help those who are poor and in need, even if it requires strenuous effort.
1 Corinthians 11:11-12
“Nevertheless, in the Lord woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman. For as woman came from man, so also man is born of woman. But everything comes from God.”
God treats women with utmost respect and honor. God holds women in such high esteem that He made men and women equal partners in life. Men and women rely on each other and treat each other with respect always. So when you find a husband, remember that God ultimately set a standard for how women should be treated by their partners.
1 Peter 3:3-4
“Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.”
In this verse, women of God are reminded not to seek “adornment” or “beauty” from how they dress or look. This does not mean that women cannot wear gold jewelry, fine clothes, or elaborate hairstyles. Rather, it is a warning about attempting to find true beauty in superficial things.
Being a woman of God means letting your inner self shine by having a gentle and quiet spirit. This type of beauty does not fade with age and it is the beauty valued by God, which is what truly matters.
1 Timothy 3:11
“In the same way, the women are to be worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything.”
1 Timothy 3:11 talks about what the traits of deacon’s wives should be. In the same way, women of God should be dignified, not slanderers, and faithful in all things — whether with their husband, children, careers, and other things.
“A kindhearted woman gains honor, but ruthless men gain only wealth.”
When David and his men were in the wilderness in need of food protecting local shepherds at that time, David dispatched men to ask for food from Nabal, who is the master of the shepherds. Although Nabal had wealth and abundance, he refused the request from David. When the wife of Nabal named Abigail learned about this, she hurried and brought the food to David. Soon, Nabal died from a fatal heart attack while Abigail married David.
The lesson in Proverbs 11:16 is that any woman who is gracious will receive honor from others and God. But the violent man can only obtain riches which will eventually be left behind in death.
“She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.”
A woman of God is far more valuable than any other precious thing here on Earth. Therefore, she should be cared for and cherished. Make sure you know your value as a woman. In the eyes of God, you are precious.
“She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.”
A woman of God thinks before she speaks. So when you speak, remember to speak with kindness and good deeds. Be mindful not to speak ill of others
May these Bible verses about being a woman of God remind you of the identity you have in Him. Never forget your worth. Live life as a God-fearing woman so that you may reflect the light of Christ in your life and to those around you.
