“O Lord, in the morning You hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch.”
Psalms 5:3 (ESV)

Perhaps this morning will be different from all the other mornings you have woken up to. How?

Maybe today will be the day that you would make the choice to lay over all of your cares, your worries, your doubts, your failures, your sins, and your longings unto the Lord. Life is much to be thought of when we go through the best times but when it gets to the point of overwhelmingly difficult situations, we tend to just coast through with much difficulty and we wonder if we could ever get back to the good days.

Like the psalmist said, every morning he calls out to God and offers his life as a sacrifice. He no longer wants control or self-sufficiency but turns over every part, every facet, and every element of His life unto God, both good and bad.

Then, with expectancy and eager anticipation, the psalmist then waits and watches. He longs to see God move in and around His life. He lays his life as sacrifice unto God’s altar and prepares for God to show His presence in the psalmist’s life.

Fire was used to represent God’s glory and presence among His people in the Old Testament. It also signifies His will and His ways (as He led the Israelites with the pillar of cloud by day and the pillar of fire by night and many more manifestations throughout the Bible).

Have you laid down the pieces of your life on God’s altar so that He can make much use of it and in turn, make you whole?

Are you eagerly, expectantly, and whole-heartedly awaiting, watching, and looking forward to what God will do amidst your situation, your sacrifice, and your sighs?

Perhaps today will be different because of this, pray that you would turn over your life unto the Lord and watch Him fulfill His great work in your life.
