GOD OF THE IMPOSSIBLE: WHAT CAN’T HE DO?
“Abraham said, ‘God will provide for himself the lamb for a burnt offering,
my son.’ So they went both of them together.”
Do you often ask God a big resounding “WHY”?
A lot of times, we don’t understand what God has in mind. In Abraham’s case, God promised him a son even in his old age. And when the promised son was born and grew up to be a boy, God then told Abraham to take this same promised son, Isaac, to a mountain and sacrifice him there.
We know that God knows infinitely more than us, things that we cannot even begin to imagine. But how come we still question Him and try to do His plans our way?
There is a lot of uncertainty in our lives, and some of them involve situations wherein we have to sacrifice something dear to us. There are also some circumstances when we have to take risks, even with the gnawing knowledge of an indefinite outcome. But by grace through faith, we can trust that God is sovereign. He is in control, and He always wants what’s best for us.
To believe in Jesus’ resurrection is to believe in the impossible. It is only by God’s grace that you and I believe. If God can raise the dead, what can’t He do? We only have to rely on Him, trust His love, and obey His commands.
Abraham had faith in God and His sovereignty. It didn’t mean it was easier for him to do what God commanded, but he willingly and boldly put his confidence in Him and true enough, God provided. Surely the Lord can do the same for you.
Are there areas in your life that you need to give up to God? Are you willing to give the reins of your life to Him and let His will be done in His way? What things can you start doing in order to continue to grow in your faith?
