Wearable technology, smart houses, talking phones, then comes virtual reality. An idea that was once a part of science-fiction books, cartoons, and movies is now (if I may) a reality. Who knew that different worlds can be contained inside a pair of extra large sunglasses. It may look silly on you at first; but once you wear it, how you look in the real world will be the least of your worries. You can probably call it the first teleportation machine. You decide on which world to go to—Middle-Earth, Narnia, or even Earth 2(The Flash). It’s even a time machine! Go back to when knights carry heavy armor, shields, and swords; or go to the future when phasers are set to stun (Star Trek). With virtual reality, you can be whoever you want, be whenever you want, and be wherever you want. You have to remember, though, that wearing this piece of gadget shuts off your senses to the real world. You can only see what the glasses project. Your sense of hearing blocks off the real sounds of your real environment. You could lose your sense of time and your sense of reality may get so warped (Scarlet Witch’s power is to warp someone’s reality)!

“I have the right to do anything,” you say—but not everything is beneficial. “I have the right to do anything”—but not everything is constructive.
1 Corinthians 10:23 NIV

Yes, it is a good way to be entertained, to relieve stress, and to have fun and to bond with family and friends. Abusing it’s capabilities, spending too much time on it, and being enslaved by it—these are the no-nos. This should not top over, affect or replace the real priorities in real life. This should not top over, affect or replace your time with God, and your time fellowshipping with other believers, serving in ministry. Sure, it’s a way to escape from the harshness of our reality. Just don’t run away too far before you reach a point that you can never go back (Jessica Pearson line). After all, as Christians, we should know better to turn to Jesus. He is the only Source of true and lasting peace (and a stress-free life). As our web-slinging friend(spider-man) said, “with great power comes great responsibility.” Using VR gears are awesome, but make sure to use it in moderation. Promise yourself that you would take it off after an hour or so. And I am talking to the real you, not your sim (Sims).
