THE EMPTY BUCKET
You will show me the way of life, granting me the joy of your presence and the pleasures of living with you forever.
Jesus said in Matthew 16:25, “If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it.” He also said in John 10:10, “My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.”
Sometimes, when we desire to give in to God, doubt and fear creep in. We have a lot of stuff in our buckets which have grown dearly in our hearts. We mind the hard work we invested to acquire them but in fact, it is the Lord who chose to bless us with these things. If not because of Him, surely this hard work will be in vain.
Understanding that everything is borrowed from God makes it easier for us to let go of something we shouldn’t have owned in the first place. Understand that God uses these things to allow us to experience the blessings of the real life with Him. We are God’s subject of blessings and “He” should be the object of our devotion and not the blessings we receive.
The enemy doesn’t want us to experience the fullness of His blessings which we can only realize through acts of faith and courage.
Is your bucket full or empty? If you think you are already experiencing much of this life, think again. Try fully emptying your bucket and give in to God. Surely, it’s going to be a remarkable experience – an adventure with Christ that you will never ever exchange!
