“And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
Colossians 3:15-17 ESV

We’ve heard it all before that “worship is a lifestyle”. How then should we be living our lives?

Let’s take a step back and look at our lives, why don’t we ask ourselves, “How am I living?” Am I, who was created and called by God, worshipping or living in a way that He has called me to be?

Passages like this in scripture always point to “letting” Christ take over our lives. It points to Christ’s peace and Christ’s message to be upon us in every way. It leads us to be thankful in our circumstances, to live at peace with one another, and it leads us to teach and admonish one another through various methods of song and worship.

This is a great way of worshiping God in everything through the way we live our lives!

Verse 17 gives a special encouragement and reminder to us that how we live our lives should be a constant state of worship to Him. It’s a 24-hour, down to the last detail, worship mode ON kind-of-thing.

The scripture concludes with “whatever we do…”, what more can be included in “whatever”? Everything can be included in whatever. How we live our lives, whether we’re in school or at work, even as simple as how we think and what we think of, or even when we’re just alone in our room breathing—all of these are included in “whatever”.

What’s amazing is that all of these can be an act of worship unto God. This is a wonderful and beautiful reminder to us who were made to worship.

Question for today: are you living in the Peace of Christ that leads you to be at peace with everyone else? Are you cultivating an attitude of thankfulness?

Do you constantly teach and encourage others with the message of Christ through whatever means, like songs and other means of worship? Resolve today to do everything in the Name of our Lord Jesus.
