TWO PRISONS – PART 2
However, The Holy Spirit wouldn’t let me remain silent forever. His fire burned inside me. Finally I could hold my lips silent no longer, and I began to tell others about Jesus Christ. Two people opened their hearts to Him. Eventually the Lord gave favor and the Mexican police brought me to the American border because they were able to find out that warrants were out for my arrest in Michigan. However, the American Immigration decided to not let me enter the U.S. because their computer systems supposedly didn’t have the same information the Mexican’s had.
They left me alone in a room. I got down on my knees and began to pray and cried out to my Father in heaven.
“My God, do you hear what they are telling me? They say I can’t come into this country. Father, remember all the things that you have done for me? How you saved my life from all those troubles? I know that you have not brought me this far for them to turn me back. I’m being obedient to You. Father, I ask in the name of Jesus that you make the final decision.”
I finished praying and waited. Finally the U.S. Immigration came back and told me that they were going to let me in the country. I was filled with joy, because I knew that God had answered my prayer!
I asked them when the Michigan authorities were going to come and pick me up. They told me, “They are not. They aren’t coming all the way to Texas just for you.” Then they cut me loose.
Then the tempter came and began talking to me: “Don’t go back to Michigan, you fool. Stay right here in Texas! You don’t want to go back to prison and you know it.”
The Holy Spirit helped me fight the temptation and I was able to tell the devil to get out of my thoughts in the name of Jesus Christ. That silenced him, thank God.
I didn’t have any money, and didn’t know how I was going to make it. Then a thought came to me. Pray for a Christian truck driver to help you. That’s what I did.
While I waited at the truck stop, a truck driver saw what I had in my hand. It was a Bible. He asked me why I had a Bible in my hand. I told him, “I’m a Christian.” He wanted to know more. I shared the rest of the reasons for being where I was.
After I shared all that I had gone through to get to where we were, he replied with a glow on his face, “Your prayers have been answered. The Lord spoke to my heart, and told me to come to this particular gas station and help you.”
I was so filled with joy at that moment! God had answered my prayer!
He took me all the way to Michigan, but it took two weeks. I stayed with him all the while. I had the chance to meet his precious family. I went to a wonderful church in Indiana. I had a chance to share my testimony with many people.
Then temptation knocked strongly again. The truck driver said, “Why don’t you just stay living in Indiana with my family? We’ll buy you a car, and give you a place to live.” He made this offer twice. He stressed that this would be a good place to start a new life. The devil’s persuasions were loud and clear: “Come on – you don’t want to go back to Michigan and go to prison. What purpose would such a thing serve?”
Again the Holy Spirit gave me strength to say, “Satan, get out of my way! I am going to be obedient to my God.”
1 Samuel 15:22 says: “Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as much as in obeying the Voice of the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.”
I told this precious brother in the Lord (the truck driver) that I could not stay, because I had committed a crime in Michigan, and I knew in my heart why I had come back to the U.S.A., and what Proverbs 28:13 says: “He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.” Believe me, I want all the mercy from God I can get.
1 John 1:9 says: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just, and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” I have confessed and I have been forgiven, and now the blood of Jesus has made me clean, praise His holy name! I am forever free of prison number two. And now I have the privilege of paying off my debt to society for the crime I committed…as I serve out my prison sentence in this Michigan prison – the first prison.
Guess what? So many here in prison number one are in two prisons, yet don’t know it. They are in this first prison because the authorities have said that they need to pay for their crime against society, whether correctly evaluated and administered justly or not. Yet there is another prison they are in within this first prison. It’s the prison of wrongdoing against God. This second prison, which is a sentence lasting for all eternity…is the prison that everyone is in…whether in or outside the first prison.
When we sin, we commit a crime against God’s law. Our crime against society is always a sin against God’s law…thus it is a crime against God. It is a crime against the lawmaker of all creation. The Bible states that anyone who sins once against God…no matter how small or seemingly how insignificant that sin is…must be put to death! God simply will not tolerate his created beings committing one sin against Him without being put to death. That is how righteous of a Judge He is! He is filled with indignation and wrath when His created beings sin against His law – even one time.
Yet in His compassion and mercy … He knows those of us here on earth all have the sin nature of Adam and Eve — the first two sinners of His earthly created beings. He knew that once Adam and Eve sinned, He would have to kill every person to be born after them because they would inherit that sin nature from their parents, Adam and Eve, and their subsequent offspring, down to those alive right now.
In His love, compassion and mercy, rather than destroy for eternity all his beloved earthly created beings, He came forth with a plan to satisfy his angry wrath against sin against His law. He would take upon Himself the punishment that those earthly law-breakers deserved. He would purposely go to death on their behalf. He would place full punishment for their law-breaking upon His Son, so His mercy and compassion could then be poured out upon them and they could be freed throughout eternity for their wrongdoing against Him.
Thus we read of the painful death of Jesus Christ in the Bible on the Cross of Calvary – dying for the sins of all law-breakers. Pardoning prisoners in this second prison in which all sinners are being held…that they may walk away from their spiritual prison into total freedom from God’s wrath henceforth…if they continue to place their trust in Jesus Christ until their death here on earth.
It’s this second prison that I am so thankful I can share with my brothers here in this first prison that they can be freed from, and now on the Internet. It’s a very simple message to share:
Jesus died to free you from this second prison. The key to be set free of all guilt and shame from your crimes against God is confessing your sin to Him, asking forgiveness, thanking Him for forgiving you, then repenting and making Jesus Christ your Savior and Lord by obeying holy Scripture from the Bible.
I saw a lot of people in Latin America that needed to hear the Word of God. There are many here in prison number one who need to hear it as well. The Lord has given me the ability to speak, write and read English and Spanish. I believe in my heart that the Lord has called me to share what He has done for me everywhere I go. I just can’t keep quiet about it.
I know the Lord has a plan for me once I am released from this Michigan prison. In Genesis 28:15, the Lord told Jacob, “I am with you and will watch over you wherever you go, and I will bring you back to this land. I will not leave you until I have done what I promised you.”
No matter how dark my past was, Jesus Christ has a bright future for me. He has important things for all of us to do to help minister His love to a dying and hurting world…locked into prison number two and doing everything in the power to refuse the key the heavenly Father hands them so that they can go free. That key is Jesus. That key is what Jesus accomplished on the old rugged cross for humanity.
